Lighting

Every room in a well-designed lighting system has 3-5 scenes, not 'on' and 'off'. Kitchen scenes typically include prep (bright, cool, all layers up), dinner (pendants only, warm, dimmed), clean (bright, all layers), and evening (warm accents, downlights off).

We workshop scenes room by room with the client on site, then program and adjust over a return visit.

The best modern lighting installs shift colour temperature and intensity throughout the day - cool and bright at midday, neutral in the afternoon, warm and dim after sunset. It's not a gimmick; it matches how the human circadian system evolved to respond to light and it demonstrably improves sleep and alertness.

Lutron Ketra, Crestron and DALI DT8 all support this natively.

The best control interface for lighting is still a physical keypad, engraved with what each button does. Every wall keypad we install is engraved in-house to match the room's scenes, and the button count is deliberately kept low - four to six buttons per keypad, not 20.

Voice, mobile and touchscreen control are all available too, but the keypad is what a 6-year-old or a house guest actually uses.
