Aqara A100 Smart Lock Review — Features & Verdict
Hands-on review from a Perth Aqara installer.
Overview
An installer's review of the Aqara A100 smart lock — fingerprint, PIN, NFC, Apple Home Key and Bluetooth, with the real-world pros, cons and pricing for Perth homes.
The Aqara A100 is the best mid-priced smart lock we install in Perth. It supports fingerprint, PIN, NFC card, Apple Home Key (tap-with-iPhone) and Bluetooth — five entry methods in one unit, and a physical key as backup.
What stands out: the fingerprint reader is genuinely fast (sub-1-second wake-to-open), Apple Home Key works flawlessly with iPhone and Apple Watch, and the unit handles Australian door thicknesses (38–55mm) without the shimming we have to do on cheaper imports.
Where it falls short: no Wi-Fi built in (needs an Aqara hub for remote access), no Matter support yet, and the indoor escutcheon is bulky. For a Perth Airbnb where remote code generation matters, the slightly pricier Aqara U200 is worth the upgrade.
Pricing installed in Perth: $620–$780 supplied and fitted, including hub if you don't already have one. We carry stock for next-day installs.
