Why microchip cat doors beat magnet and IR collars
Older cat doors used magnetic or infrared collars to identify the cat. The magnet types open for any cat wearing one (every cat in the street), and the IR types flatten the collar battery in weeks. A microchip cat door reads the vet chip already implanted between your cat's shoulders — no collar required, nothing to lose, and every cat in WA already has one if they've seen a vet.
The result is the door simply does what you wanted: opens for your cat, stays locked for everyone else.
