Microchip Pet Doors Perth

Entry that only opens for your animal.

Overview

Microchip pet door installation across Perth — SureFlap and PetSafe units that read your pet's existing microchip and lock everyone else out.

A microchip pet door scans for your pet's vet-implanted chip (or a worn RFID tag for animals without one) and only unlocks for matching IDs. Up to 32 pets on the same door, with individual schedules and entry permissions.

We fit these into timber doors, brick walls and glass, weather-sealed for Perth's coastal salt air and engineered to keep working through a 40°C summer ceiling cavity.

Pair with your home alarm so the pet door is armed alongside the rest of the perimeter — and remotely lockable from your phone if you're away.

Multi-pet households: how the door manages priorities

With multiple pets, each chip can be configured individually — your indoor-only kitten can be set to exit-only-during-daylight, your old dog set to full access, and your visiting Airbnb pet given no access at all. The door logs every entry by pet ID, so you can see who's been out and when from the SureFlap or PetSafe phone app.

Most Perth households we install for run 2–4 pets on one door, but the hardware supports up to 32 — useful for breeders, foster carers and bigger families.

Integrating with the home's alarm

A traditional pet door is a 30cm hole in your perimeter security. A microchip pet door wired into the alarm becomes an asset, not a vulnerability — the door reports lock state to the alarm panel, and the alarm can force-lock the door when the system is armed Away.

We connect to all major alarm brands (Bosch, Paradox, DSC, Ness) via dry-contact relay. The integration takes about 90 minutes on top of the pet door install itself.

FAQs

Frequently asked.

Quick answers to what Perth clients ask most. Anything we haven't covered? Get in touch.

How does a microchip pet door know which animal is approaching?

A low-power RFID antenna scans for chips within ~10cm of the door. When a registered chip is detected, the door unlocks. Unregistered animals — including the neighbour's cat — find a locked door.

How many pets can one door recognise?

SureFlap microchip doors store up to 32 separate pet IDs. Each can have individual entry/exit permissions and curfew schedules.

What if my pet doesn't have a microchip?

We supply a small RFID collar tag that the door reads instead. Useful for puppies before their vet chip, or for rescue animals where the chip details are missing.

Does it run on batteries or mains power?

Battery-powered units (4× AA, ~12 months life) are standard for retrofits — no cable run required. For new builds we run 12V DC from the alarm panel for unlimited life and battery alert integration.

Can I lock it remotely from my phone?

Yes — SureFlap Connect and PetSafe Smart Door pair to a hub on your home network and expose lock/unlock and entry logs to a phone app. Useful when you're away and want the pet contained.
